Artistic Process
The majority of my paintings are done in oils from snapshots taken with my camera and then painted at home. I prefer to paint in oils as they can be manipulated on the canvas while they are still wet plus I get so much pleasure in creating a painting in its different layers. Most but not all my paintings are started with a rough sketch, and then each section or block e.g. sky, trees, river is covered in an obscure colour so no white remains (sky usually starts purple). I can then build up the true colours on top of this base. I have no idea where this technique originated from, but it works for me.
Each painting is photographed at different stages of its creation to show its progress and these photos can be available to the purchaser if so wished.
There are some examples of some of my paintings' stages below:

The top three images are of 'Poughill in Snow' which is SOLD. The original photo was taken in the summertime but I used some imagination to create a snow scene instead. The five below are of 'Ruthin Castle Gatehouse', done in oils. My husband and I were on holiday in north Wales with friends and visited this lovely place, it was a beautiful day to be out and about.
